he cooperation agreement concerning the implementation of the 5K management program (5 keys to a dairy cattle farm management) between the SCHP “EKOPRODUKT” company and the GENOSERVICE Corp. company was signed in November 2014.
Heifers started to calve at the new EKOPRODUKT farm in the Samara Region in June 2014. In 3 years, by the end of 2017, the farm with an average number of 1050 dairy cows achieved the yield of 35 kg of milk!
This yield level puts the farm among the world's leaders and the animals also demonstrate excellent health. Cull rate within 2 months after calving is at outstanding 5%.
Very good results were also achieved in reproduction. The service period is 126 days (in 2015, when we started with reproduction, the service period was 252). There are constantly 53 - 55% of pregnant cows in the herd.
We have achieved such good results despite the fact that we have had ongoing problems with the production of bulky feeds in the past two years (maize silage - only 13% of starch in the dry matter, and the alfalfa silage - 35% of fiber, 11% NL in the dry matter and more than 15% of ash in the dry matter).
The good results are based on close and fruitful cooperation with the farm investor Andrej Polovinkin, CEO Michail Fajerman and a motivated team of workers who consistently follow the 5K program.
Taking into account the constant technology improvements and our intensive work in the area of genetics, we can expect further growth of yield, longevity and animal health in the future. We strictly use top class bulls with NM 700 and higher for breeding, with an emphasis on the yield, health and process capability in high-capacity concentration. Some heifers are genomically tested.
Heifers gain 880 g per day on average which allows calving of pregnant heifers in the age of 22 to 24 months.
The farm also cares for the animals' welfare. A large capital investment is planned for spring this year based on our design - a construction of a delivery room with world class parameters. Last year, we managed to substantially reduce the thermal stress of animals.
We provide training for professionals such as hoof trimmers, inseminators, veterinarians, etc. throughout the year. ...
Farm workers actively and consistently follow our 5K management program, thanks to which the results are on such a good level. All deviations from the planned indicators are addressed immediately.
The farm is profitable in the long term.
